I learned of this book when I watched videos of Isabella Rosallini talking about getting fired from Lancome at 43 and being rehired at 60+ as a model. She spoke of retiring from entertainment, having a little farm, and raising chickens. For a women who led what I perceived as the glamorous life as Ingrid Bergman's daughter, as a model and actress herself, I was fascinated. She spoke of writing and illustrating this book - a children's book - which is really for adults, too. I ordered it on the spot! When it arrived, I opened it and couldn't put it down. It was delightful and educational. Ms. Rosellini's chickens are heritage chickens, which have never been bred for commercial use. She describes what a heritage chicken is, which breeds she has, what personalities her chickens have, and a little about her life with them. It is well written so even an adult can enjoy it -- and I did! Her Act 1 was glamorous, her Act 2 if interesting, and I cannot wait to see her Act 3!

Oh my gosh - The MOST charming book I have received in years!! My husband just surprised me with My Chickens and I by Isabella Rossellini- it is adorable - just captivating - terrific photos, charming drawings - it makes you laugh and smile. I will read it again and again. Bravo, Isabella!

Refreshing, delightful and inspirational!
Nice book for the entry-level reader wanting to get a quick overview of chickens. A lot of spent space on scratch-style of artwork and photos. The monies spent on this book went well towards it being hard-bound, and good thickness of the pages. One item this reader would disagree with is the authors comment of newly hatched chicks imprinting. It is suggested that the chick could imprint a human as it's mother. There is no evidence to substantiate this statement. All said, a very short story of a woman and her chickens.
Almost didn't pick up the book from the library. My Chickens and "I"??? That isn't correct English! Should be My Chickens and Me.
