I have followed TOGs blog for a long time. She has the best recipes hands down. I even own several highly rated Instant Pot Cookbooks and I hardly used them. I always ended up at TOGs blog. So I actually just bought this book to support and say thanks for all the help. Then I opened this cookbook...oh my goodness.... I can’t wait to start cooking!! So BUY THIS BOOK....with it and her blog they are the only resources you need in my opinion:)
I’ve been cooking 10+ years but admit my foods tasted just an average. So when I first made Jill’s cheesecake, I couldn’t believe I did!!! I felt like I’d become Ina Garten and bragged everyone about my cheesecake!! These days, everyone knows TOG and the secret is no longer a secret.. but it’s ok.. as long as Jill keeps writing new cookbooks!!!
I have been following Jill since I got my first Instant Pot quite a while ago. Her Facebook group and blog have been the most valuable sources of information for recipes, hints, and answers to questions about this pressure cooker that I have found to date. Thanks to Jill, I eat more cleanly, with less preparation time and more variety than ever. Although I have printed out many of these recipes that she has so generously shared in the past, I LOVE having them all organized in one book. It is my favorite reference and occupies a place of honor on my wrought iron counter top cookbook stand. I was delighted that the book is a hard cover. It will hold up better to use that it is getting and I SO appreciated all of the full color photos! I eat with my eyes, and I also decide what I'm going to make my family for dinner with those same eyes. Many of us have been waiting for Jill to write a cookbook for years and I'm so happy that it finally happened. This cookbook does not disappoint and the fact that Jill is so responsive online to questions and comments about it makes the book even more valuable. I found it really interesting (and quite helpful) that she deliberately added lined "notes" space after the recipes so you can add your own comments. I wish all cookbooks did this! Great job, Jill! I can't wait for cookbook #2! (That's not an announcement or a rumor...just my own dream.)By the way, my #1 favorite recipe is her Greek Yogurt recipe. I eat this every single morning of my life - topped with about 3/4 fresh blueberries and a drizzle of local honey. SO VERY GOOD. I will never buy yogurt at the store again. This is far superior! Once you try it, you can't go back.
My very first Instant Pot recipe was This Old Gal’s Drive Thru Tacos. She convinced me that I could use this thing that I received for Christmas. Her recipes are logical and interesting with just enough variety to make almost everyone in my house happy (Captain Picky does love the Drive Thru Tacos; less sure about any other meat and sauce type thing, but we don’t live and die by his preferences).Overall, I am thrilled with this cookbook because it puts our favorite recipes in a place where my husband can find them too (explaining websites, etc., to him is exhausting). He fell in love with the cover and has gone through it with sticky notes already. This will be a go to in our kitchen.
I have been using tog recipes since I bought my first instapot and had NO idea what it was or how to use it. Hands down the best recipes out there and she makes using the instapot so easy. I made the best cheesecake I have ever tasted using her recipes and everything I’ve tried has turned out wonderful. Love the notes sections in each chapter.. a must have book for every instapot user!!
I've followed This Old Gal's page from my first day of owning a pressure cooker, and she continues to be my go-to for the basic techniques, more advanced recipes, and everything in between. I couldn't wait to get this cookbook, her recipes are thoroughly researched and authentic, every pressure cooker owner should make this purchase!
Way too many ingredients and steps for most recipes in this book. I bought the IP to save time. Putting together these recipes would defeat the purpose.
I've been following This Old Gals blog for over a year. Her cheesecake recipe made me a super star in the eyes of everyone who tasted it. I find her recipes easy to follow and recommend this book to anyone with an Instant Pot or pressure cooker.
